2 Broke Girls will be back next season as well as 17 other shows on CBS. The network announced this morning the renewals of 18 shows but held off on picking up a few others. Series that we have yet to hear word on include CSI: NY, CSI: Miami, Two and a Half Men, Rules of Engagement and freshman series A Gifted Man, Unforgettable and Rob. The entire list of returning shows is below: Comedy Drama Other
Written by Rockne O’Bannon and produced by Gossip Girl‘s Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, the show revolves around a journalist blogger named Jeff (Davis) who teams up with a young production assistant named Skye (played by ex-Melrose Place 2.0 star, Jessica Lucas) who works on the show within a show, titled Cult. Together they begin investigating the murder of his brother who may have been the victim of some rabid fans of the show who have been re-creating crimes seen on the program. Fans of The Vampire Diaries should not fret over Davis’ departure from the hit show, as it has been reported by Deadline that he will be available to make guest appearances in future seasons as fan favorite Alaric Saltzman.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the young actor/singer currently starring in Broadway’s How to Succeed in Business will be reprising his role as wunderkind Lyle West, who began his career starring in a Broadway show written by Tom (Christian Borle) and directed by Derek (Jack Davenport). We last saw him in the February 27th episode when he struck a deal with Eileen (Angelica Houston) to become an investor in the Marylin Monroe musical that her character is producing. Last month, Jonas said that there was a possibility that his character could come back. “You definitely could see Lyle pop up,” he said. He also added that “if they do have me back it really provides an opportunity for him to get deeper into it and kind of dig in and get more involved.” Smash currently airs Monday nights at 10:00 p.m. on NBC. First reported by TVLine, Murray will play Spider, a former fashion photographer and creative director. (The role was originated by Barry Bostwick in the 1980 miniseries.) The series names Oscar winner Natalie Portman as an executive producer and also co-stars CSI: NY‘s Claire Forlani and Australia’s Boris Kodjoe and Jessica McNamee.
We open with fan favorite, Karen Cartwright (Katharine McPhee), performing Blondie’s “Call Me” at a bar. Is she celebrating winning the role of Marilyn? No. We soon find out it’s just her fantasizing while on the job at the restaurant she’s still working at. We find out she hasn’t heard from the producers of Marilyn in four days. Speaking of the talent behind the musical, Tom, Julia and company can’t quite decide on a leading lady. Cartwright is the fresh-faced girl next door with a light resume but an incredible voice. Ivy Lynn is the blonde bombshell who can sing, act and dance with 10 years of Broadway experience under her belt. The obvious choice would be to cast the girl with more experience, but director Derek Wills wants someone with more innocence. That someone would be Karen.
The roles are recurring, so expect to see lots of these two. The brothers will not be happy with Klaus when they are woken from their coffins later this season. Probably because he’s the one who put them there. Having previously met Klaus’ brother Elijah (whom Klaus killed and put back in his coffin) and his sister, Rebekah (whom Elena just killed in the mid-season finale), there’s only two of Klaus’ siblings remaining that we have left to meet. (Two other brothers died before the family was turned into vampires.) Reports say that we’ll see these newly introduced bros in both flashbacks and present day scenes. Their first appearance will be in episode 13. The Vampire Diaries returns to our TV screens on Thursday, Jan. 5 on The CW.
ABC’s Charlie’s Angels is the latest new drama series to kick the bucket. The ratings challenged series was canceled this afternoon. Not only did the show suffer from ratings, it also didn’t do well among critics and fans alike. The show was just a disappointment to most. The show is still set to air next week on Oct. 20 but previously announced Charlie Brown specials will fill the slot on Oct. 27. According to The Futon Critic, eight episodes have been filmed to date. According to TVLine, Sarah Michelle Gellar drama Ringer has been picked up for a full season. The show has been given the back 9 episode order, even though ratings haven’t exactly been through the roof. Since the premiere, viewers had been dropping off each week until last night’s shocking episode, which gained 33 percent in adults 18-49 and 15 percent in total viewers (to 1.7 million).
First reported by TVLine, the actor was recently cast as Troy Quinn, the boyfriend of Zoe, the law firm coffee girl who’s pregnant and has decided to give her baby to Julia and her husband Joel. His character, Troy, is the father of Zoe’s baby and it has been said that his character will stir up some trouble for the prospective adoptive parents. As of now, Gavin is only slated for one episode, set to air Nov. 22. Parenthood airs Tuesdays at 10/9c on NBC. First reported by The Futon Critic, due to the MLB playoffs and the World Series coverage, Fox has decided to push all new episodes of New Girl to November. We know, we hate this news, too. The show will also be replaced by expanded installments of The X Factor. New episodes will return on Tuesday, Nov. 1 in its regular time slot. Until then, our Tuesday nights just won’t be the same. |
